JD Wetherspoon founder and chairman Sir Tim Martin has called for more support for National Pubwatch as an organisation claiming “National Pubwatch is where it is at.”
He was speaking as he received an Award of Merit in recognition of his long-time support for Pubwatch schemes.
During a Youtube interview he said: “The biggest no brainer in licensing in the UK is to support Pubwatch.”
“It is tremendous when all the licensees within an area and the police and the authorities get behind a single organisation. It helps people running their pubs, it helps the community, it gives a sense of cohesion and it is much better than dialling 999 if something goes wrong once in a blue moon.”
