Licensees in Ashbourne have launched a new Pubwatch scheme to crack down on violent and anti-social behaviour.
Ashbourne is a historic market town in the Derbyshire Dales, combining a mix of traditional alehouses and modern bars.
There are currently 13 venues which have signed up for the scheme and the present coordinator will be Kerry Edwards who is a licensee for both The Horns and Ye Old Vaults in the town.
National Pubwatch regional representative Mark Worthington spoke at a well-attended start-up meeting at the Ashbourne Ex-Servicemen’s Club in November 2025 to offer advice and guidance.
The scheme has received strong support from both the police and local council. Mark commented that there was some very positive engagement at the initial meeting, which bodes well for the future.
