Licensee Silvia Serra of the Star & Garter, was presented with a National Pubwatch Star Award at a meeting of the Soho Pubwatch.

The presentation was made by Regional Representative Paul Wotton, on Tuesday 3 February 2026.

Silvia was nominated by Jo May, Secretary of the Soho Business Alliance for her work, partnering with the Soho Angels to make available the upstairs rooms in her pub to provide a safe haven for women in need of assistance.

Jo says of Silvia: ‘Her door is always open to locals, offering not just hospitality, but genuine human connection. She provides a friendly ear to those who need it, creating an atmosphere where people feel heard and valued. This has made the pub a true local institution where community bonds are strengthened. Beyond the pub itself, Silvia actively supports local charities and responds to community needs, using her platform and resources to give back to the neighbourhood that has embraced her business. Her pub has become a model for how hospitality venues can serve as positive forces for social good, particularly in supporting women’s safety and fostering genuine community spirit in Soho’.
