23/11/22: NPW Regional Representative Joe Murray presented doorman Jake Palmer-Reid of Professional Security with a STAR AWARD at a packed meeting of the Leeds City Pubwatch at Pryzm Nightclub.
On 25 June Jake was working at The Travellers Rest, Cross Gates Leeds when he observed six people who were seated and drinking at a table. He saw one of the customers fall backwards and strike the back of his head on a nearby bench. Jakes initial thought was that the customer was suffering from a seizure.
With the aid of a colleague, he placed the customer in the recovery position. The customer was unconscious and stopped breathing. Jake instructed that colleagues contact the emergency services and commenced CPR. The customer stopped breathing on three occasions and on each occasion, Jake managed to bring him back.
On arrival of the ambulance Jake updated the paramedics with all the information and assisted them by continuing CPR whilst they cleared the customers airways and prepared a defibrillator. The customer’s condition was so serious that the emergency crew had to use the defibrillator twice to restart his heart and eventually when he was in a stable condition, he was conveyed to hospital.
The customer has since been in contact with Jake to thank him for his actions and he is believed to be making good progress.
