National Pubwatch is delighted to announce that Lord Evans of Rainow has agreed to become its new Honorary President.
A Conservative Life Peer, Graham takes over the reins from Lord Kennedy who stepped down after being appointed as the Government’s Chief Whip in the House of Lords.
Steve Baker OBE Chairman of National Pubwatch said: “We are grateful for the support given to us by Lord Kennedy during the last 6 years and we wish him well in his new post. I am really pleased to announce that Lord Evans has agreed to join our organisation. He has a real interest in helping us to improve safety in licensed venues and promote the important work that we do, both within the pub and hospitality trade and with the wider community”.
Lord Evans said: “Pubs are the Hub of Communities and a Force for Good across the United Kingdom, however they have to a safe, pleasant and welcoming environment where all member of the community feels safe and welcome. The numerous Pubwatch schemes across the country play a vital role in helping maintain that warm welcome for all.”
Lord Evans is a Conservative Life Peer. The former MP for Weaver Vale in Cheshire he became a member of the House of Lords in November 2022. Graham was previously the Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group.
