A stalwart within the Inverness Hospitality scene has been recognised for his outstanding commitment with a National Pubwatch ‘Star Award’. The Star Awards were introduced to allow NPW Regional Representatives to acknowledge the contribution of people who they feel have gone the extra mile in supporting local Pubwatch schemes and their efforts to create safer drinking environments.

Licensee Don Lawson, owner of Johnny Foxes & The Den has worked tirelessly to grow the Pubwatch scheme in Inverness and has been Chairperson on and off for the last 11 years.

“I am very pleased and proud to receive this award on behalf of Inverness Pubwatch, said Don. In recent years we have created a safe environment in our Licensed premises which has resulted in a vibrant night-time economy.”

John McDonald from Safe Inverness and Inverness BID said: “Inverness BID have a long partnership association with Inverness Pub Watch and throughout that time Don Lawson, as a member and as long-time Chair over a number of terms has been instrumental in ensuring that Inverness Licensed Premises operate collectively to ensure that the City Licensed Premises continue to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Don and the Management Team at Johnny Foxes & The Den have consistently been at the forefront of innovation and social responsibility and excellent customer service, hospitality and entertainment in the heart of the City.”

Stewart Fotheringham NPW Scotland Regional Representative said “I was delighted to nominate Don Lawson for a Star Award – he’s created a hugely successful business in Inverness and is widely respected in the city. He’s thrown his energy and passion into Pubwatch and as a result, Inverness has an incredibly well-structured group of licensees all championing a safer night time economy.”
