National Pubwatch has presented Best Bar None’s Sylvia Oates with an Award of Merit for her partnership working. The presentation took place at the annual Best Bar None Awards in the House of Lords.
The Award of Merit acknowledges the valuable contributions that many individuals have made to the safety of the night time economy.
National pubwatch chair Steve Baker OBE said:
“Partnership working is at the core of ensuring a safe late-night economy. Sylvia has been instrumental in working in partnership with National Pubwatch ensuring we can work together to promote best practice and ensure a safe environment for people to enjoy the late-night economy.”
On receiving the award Sylvia said:
“I am over the moon that National Pubwatch presented me with an Award of Merit at the National Best Bar None awards. It was a total surprise – completely unexpected. Managing the scheme is very much a team effort, so this award also belongs to the rest of my amazing team,”
“It is an absolute privilege to be entrusted to manage the national Best Bar None scheme, I have always believed in the initiative since running a scheme in Nottingham. I am thrilled that I get to be a part of shaping its future direction – and what a bonus that everyone we get to work with, such as the National Pubwatch team, is so lovely.”
Sylvia, who is managing director of Six till Six, the leisure and hospitality specialists, has worked in the industry for over 20 years. She believes in the power of working in partnership with businesses, local authorities, police forces, BIDs and other partners.
Prior to the award being presented to Sylvia, Lord Smith, Chairman of Best Bar None highlighted the close working relationship with National Pubwatch.
