Mike Clist – House of Lords 2024

Mike Clist, is awarded the National Pubwatch Award of Merit, in recognition of his professionalism and commitment over many years of working the pub and hospitality sector and his efforts to raise standards and provide support to those who face financial difficulty.

He has been a very active and energetic supporter of Best Bar None and Pubwatch in their work to ensure the safety of staff and customers in the night time economy.

Mike is a Non-Executive Director of the British Institute of Innkeeping, having been the Chief Executive Officer from April 2016 until April 2020. The BII is the leading professional body representing individuals working across the licensed hospitality industry. As well as supporting the Chief Executive he runs their Landlord and Pubco Relationship helpline.

He has over 45 years’ experience in the pub industry, the majority of which has been spent in the Tenanted and Leased sectors. Before joining the BII he was the Operations Director for the Tenanted Division of Fuller, Smith & Turner, an independent family brewer and pub retailer. He was responsible for over 200 pubs and was promoted to Tenanted Director in 2007.

Mike sits on the Boards of Best Bar None and Pub Governing Body and a Trustee of the Licensed Trade Charity.
