Krystal Fishlock is awarded the National Pubwatch Bravery & Meritorious Conduct Award recognition of her courage, public-spiritedness in preventing a serious kidnapping attempt of a young woman walking home from her job at a local theatre.in Swindon Town Centre.
On 6th March 2025, a male offender attempted to engage with the 17-year-old female victim multiple times, even though she attempted to flag down passing vehicles. As the victim crossed the road, the offender ran towards her, grabbed her and tried to drag her across the road.
Members of the public travelling on a bus had stopped at traffic lights and on hearing the distressed young woman screaming for help, they alighted from the bus and chased the attacker away.
Krystal heard a distressed female, screaming for help and saw a man fleeing the scene and a young woman visibly shaken on the ground. Without hesitation, Krystal intervened. Upon learning that the victim did not know the man, she selflessly offered to take the young woman to safety.
Demonstrating exceptional courage and presence of mind, Krystal then pursued the suspect on foot, photographing him and later providing police with a detailed statement.
Thanks to Krystal’s swift and brave actions, the offender was identified, arrested, and remanded in custody.
Her decisive intervention not only helped secure justice but also likely prevented further harm to others.
On 12 December 2025, the offender appeared at Swindon Crown Court and was sentenced to four years and one month in custody.
Unfortunately Krystal was unable to attend the award ceremony as she was in hospital and Mr Tim Swinburn collected the award on her behalf.
