National Pubwatch chair Steve Baker OBE has been championing the importance of pubwatches to making the evening economy safer by speaking to trade publication The Morning Advertiser.
Speaking on the Morning Advertiser Podcast ‘Locked-in’, to editor Ed Bedington he explained the role of National Pubwatch in supporting existing pubwatches and encouraging their formation all over the country.
National Pubwatch was established in 1997 as an organisation and currently supports over 800 local pubwatch schemes. It provides good practice advice and guidance with the aim of creating safe drinking environments.
Its services include the provision of free accessible training materials, including videos.
Baker also highlighted the importance of venues conducting their own risk assessments and developing venue policies* to ensure that their business model was appropriate for the challenges that they might face.
